From the most natural to the most eccentric, false eyelashes come in all shapes and sizes. On TikTok, beauty influencers are taking inspiration from Japanese manga for a look straight out of an anime.
TikTok is the favorite social network for “beauty guru” who share new tips and make the buzz. At the moment, the inspiration comes straight from Japanese animation, where female characters have pointy eyelashes in small “bundles”. An effect that is quite natural when done well and that completely changes the look.
This trend requires patience and meticulousness since it consists of using false eyelashes, longer than your natural eyelashes, which must be cut into small pieces. After a coat of mascara, the false eyelashes must then be applied with glue, at a point, in different places. The tiktokeurs therefore alternate long eyelashes, shorter natural eyelashes to create an effect that could be described as “spider’s legs”. The technique also applies to the lower lashes. The trend comes from @sacheu, who was one of the first to share a tutorial. Since then, tutorials abound on TikTok and the hashtag #mangalashes totals more than 26 million views.
Note that some people use eyelashes sold individually, so you have to create your own “packages” by gluing several eyelashes together before applying them to the eyes. A helping hand to take, because you have to pay attention to the spaces between these long eyelashes, which can quickly have a very unnatural effect. It is also advisable to choose the length of your false eyelashes carefully compared to these natural eyelashes, some influencers recommend 2 mm more in the center of the eye and 1 mm on the sides.
Do not panic, if you want to start this trend, but you do not feel able to do so. Beauty salons offer to apply these “manga lashes” to you to assume the lively look without too much hassle.
