“Nobody is ever going to call me to leave”

For the first time since 2019, Canadians will come together in-person for the Terry Fox Run, raising funds for cancer research.
The 42nd annual Terry Fox Run will take place on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The event will again be held in-person, uniting neighborhoods and schools across Canada as they participate in the 2022 Terry Fox Run.
For the past few years, the Terry Fox Run has taken place virtually, with participants encouraged to complete their challenge independently, One Way, Your Way, due to COVD-19.
The annual fundraiser carries on Terry’s dream of raising critical funds for cancer research in Canada.
Wallaceburg is proud to have joined in on this nation-wide tradition as Wallaceburg has held a run right from the start of the event in 1981. Since then, there has been a rich legacy of leadership, volunteerism, and civic pride. This year marks the sixth year that Brad and Moira Eggett are organizing the event for Wallaceburg.
The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event where people get together to raise money for cancer research in Terry’s name. It is a day of celebrating Terry’s legacy and helping to keep alive his dream of finding a cure for cancer.
In the most recent years, Wallaceburg has raised $18,716.00 (2019), $16,451 (2020) and $21,036 (2021) – during a Pandemic, with a total of approximately $491.00 raised since 1981. This year’s goal will be to surpass $500,000.
Wallaceburg’s Terry Fox Run event will take place on Sept. 18. Everyone is welcome to participate in this classic Canadian tradition and there are no barriers to join and fundraise. You can walk, run, blade or wheel in the Terry Fox Run. The goal is to raise awareness for Cancer, what Terry Fox did for this cause, along with some funds. Again, it’s all about participation.
The event relies on its community support either through volunteers helping organize the event, participation in the event either individually or as a team/group; and especially with generous donations to the Foundation from the community. The most effective way that we could honor Terry’s memory is to continue to organize, participate and donate to the Terry Fox Fundraising Events.
T-shirts are again available for sale at New Vision Optical Center and pledge sheets are available to print off online at terryfox.org. he foundation is hoping many more participants will start using the website portal for donation and start to create their own individual or team page where anyone can go on and search by name, etc. and click to donate.
