Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28th and before that there will be closed and open beta phases. The first test phase on the PlayStation starts on September 16th, a week later the other platforms also come into play. All information about the beta can be found on MeinMMO.
As in previous years, there is also a beta for Modern Warfare 2. You can test the latest CoD on the following days:
However, access is limited. A real “open beta” with access for all players is only available from September 24th to 26th. PlayStation players have a significantly longer open beta period.

CoD Modern Warfare 2: Beta – Launch, Content, Participation
PlayStation players have a clear advantage here, coming into the beta over two weekends:
PlayStation dates
– Early Access: September 16-17
– Open Beta 1: September 18-20
– Open Beta 2: September 22-26
Xbox/PC dates
– Early Access: September 22-23
– Open Beta: September 24-26
The open beta on the PlayStation thus covers 6 game days, while PC and Xbox only come into play on 2 days without pre-order.
The first weekend is only for PlayStation players who can participate on PS4 and PS5.
The second weekend will see the addition of the other supported platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series, Steam, and Battle.net Launcher.
In the “Open Beta” phases, you can simply download the beta from your respective shop for free.
The only reliable way is to pre-order. With every version you pre-order, you get exclusive access to the Early Access phases.

However, for the first weekend you really only get into the beta with a PlayStation. There is no use pre-ordering, for example on the Xbox.
Keep an eye on the official Call of Duty social media channels – particularly Twitter and Instagram. Just before the start of the beta, the developers are happy to give away lots of codes to participate in early access.
However, many content creators also get free codes. Watch out for creators who bring a lot of content to Call of Duty.
Otherwise you will get keys/codes for the beta via the physical edition of Modern Warfare 2. Each CD packaging also provides you with a key. On Ebay you will find offers that promise access for a few euros. You have to decide for yourself whether it’s worth it for you.
If things play out like they’ve done over the past few years, you’ll get a decent bite of multiplayer content. The Vanguard beta offered about 6 modes on 4 maps.
However, there is still no official information about the content of the beta. However, it was revealed that the new weaponsmith can already be tested. That was also the case with Vanguard last year.
