Wammes bakery in Utrecht is disappointed with sky-high energy bills: ‘It is ticklish, but we remain positive’

Not only the energy, everything has become more expensive. “Butter, eggs, nuts, grain, cream, you name it,” says owner Everim Wammes. Lately he has been back in the business, which he took over from his father Peter Paul. “An employee dropped out and to keep costs down, I’m replacing her.”
