The Social Democrats want to extend the temporary increase in the housing allowance for families with children. A supplement that otherwise expires at the turn of the year.
– We see that it is absolutely necessary to extend this, with the price increases and the inflation we have, says Finance Minister Mikael Damberg (S) at a press meeting together with Social Security Minister Ardalan Shekarabi (S).
Around 130,000 families with children are covered by the measure, and the proposal is to let the supplement remain for another six months when it expires. The supplement is aimed at families with children with the smallest margins and can amount to a maximum of SEK 1,325 a month.
– It can be the difference between managing the household finances or not, says Damberg.
