The iPhone 14 can boast a better camera, faster processor and longer battery life than its predecessors, announced the company’s CEO Tim Cook on location in the Silicon Valley city of Cupertino in California.
Technical improvements were expected. More unexpected was the pricing of the product, as the starting price remains at the same level as before – despite the fact that many components in the phone have become more expensive.
Prior to the presentation, analysts had speculated on a price increase of up to 15 percent.
In addition to the usual technical improvements, all iPhone 14 models will have a motion sensor that, according to Apple, can detect if the user has been involved in a serious car accident and then automatically call emergency services.
The iPhone 14 will be delivered later in September and can be pre-ordered on Friday.
Apple’s stock rose about 1 percent in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange after the phone was unveiled.
