European countries in the research with Google data best selling console ranking is clear. The research is based on only three consoles, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The ongoing competition in the new generation consoles is still quite advanced.
Which is the next generation console preferred by European countries?
According to a recent study by an online gaming site, the most sought-after next-generation consoles have emerged in 47 countries. The study compared Google search results for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5, and results that seemed consistent with the sales figures for these three consoles. The struggle for dominance over the extremely lucrative game console market, which has been going on for more than ten years, continues at full speed between the “three big” companies.
Consoles involved in the struggle for dominance, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, Sony’s PlayStation 5, and Nintendo’s hybrid-style handheld Switch, have gained varying degrees of popularity around the world. Cribbage Chalange (the online gaming site that did the research) used Google Trends to compare the number of searches for consoles in each country over the past 12 months. It is a fairly simple method used to measure public interest in a particular topic.
As a result of the study, it was seen that Nintendo Switch is the most sought after console, topping the list in 24 countries, including France, Spain and the Netherlands. PlayStation 5 became the best-selling and sought-after console in 20 countries, including Germany and Norway. In the last three quarters, although Xbox Series X has surpassed PS5 sales, it has topped the top in only three countries, Hungary, Kosovo and the United Kingdom.
These results are mostly consistent with the sales figures for each console, but the Nintendo Switch has a time advantage since it came out a few years earlier than other consoles, meaning it’s been around longer than they did.
