Örebroporten is a municipality-owned company that manages several properties in Örebro, including the Behrn arena ice rink and Eyrabadet, but also the sports hall, the football arena and Tybblelund Hall. And even if electricity prices are now skyrocketing, it is Örebro municipality and the various municipal companies that take the hit.
– The cooling machines at Behrn arena are among the largest of all we have. The ice rinks are expensive to keep cold, but we are not making any changes to the agreements, because it is a political issue, says Nordvall.
The recreation committee controls the rent
It is to the recreation board at Örebro municipality that the associations turn to rent training time for the various sports.
– The rents will not go up unless the committee chooses to raise them. The rate is set based on a budget and this will be a question for the next government after the election. But I really hope we don’t go into winter with this electricity market model that we have in Europe, says Jonas Håård (S), chairman of the leisure committee.
But even if the sports associations do not have to worry about high electricity bills right now, there are exceptions.
– The associations need to keep track of whether they have electricity costs outside the agreement, in which case they need to keep track of their consumption so that the bill does not come as a shock, says Jonas Håård (S).
