There is a new update in Red Dead Online, but players are reacting rather frostily to the changes. Above all, a small feature from the patch notes causes irritation.
What is this update? The update came out on September 6th, but without prior notice. In addition, the update is almost 5 GB in size, which apparently fueled the hope of some gameplay innovations among some players in the Red Dead Online subreddit.
However, the content in the update is not too big. The highlight are three new hardcore Telegram missions where you can take on cultists. Incidentally, these missions can now also be started from the player menu and the camp.
There are also a few other adjustments and, above all, bug fixes. And another feature stands out in the patch notes (via support.rockstar), as it’s actually in second place in the list: “A link to the credits has been added to the pause menu”.
So you can jump directly from the main menu to the credits.
Players had hoped for a major update for Red Dead Online
What players say: In the Red Dead Online subreddit, the update is seen rather critically. Red Dead Online has long been considered a dusty game that rarely gets major updates and content that players could pull back in. The last major expansion dates back to July 2021.
The three telegram missions are simply not enough for some players:
The credits feature also makes for laughs:
Maybe Evil West is an alternative for Red Dead fans:
There is at least a little praise for some graphical improvements and new trader bonuses. Overall, the update is not too popular.
However, Rockstar had already announced in an official blog post in July that updates to RDO would no longer bring major content expansions, but smaller ones like Telegram missions.
GTA 6 also plays a role – because in the blog post Rockstar explained that more and more development resources are being moved to the new offshoot of the Grand Theft Auto series. At GTA 6, meanwhile, the wait for the reveal continues.
