After Boris Johnson submitted his resignation, Truss was received by Queen Elizabeth, who spent her summer vacation at Balmoral Estate in Scotland.
The Queen gave Liz Truss the mandate to form the government, thus making Truss officially the new Prime Minister of England.
After the meeting, the official Twitter account of Prime Ministry Residence Number 10 was changed and Liz Truss’s name was included.
TRUSS IS ENTITLED TO ANNOUNCE ITS NEW CABINET TODAY
Liz Truss will return to the capital, London, after her meeting with Queen Elizabeth, and will make her first speech in her post.
Truss is expected to announce his new cabinet today.
Boris Johnson announced on July 7 that he resigned from the ruling Conservative Party leader and will continue his duty as prime minister until a new leader is elected.
After Johnson’s resignation, the voting result of the ruling Conservative Party members was announced yesterday and Liz Truss received 81,326 votes, while Rishi Sunak remained at 60,399 votes.
Thus, Truss, who won the leadership race within the party, was also entitled to become the new prime minister of the country.
