Family members of four European citizens imprisoned in Iran have jointly written a letter to EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell.
In the letter, they accuse the EU of not doing enough for their imprisoned relatives.
The letter is signed by the wife of Swedish KI researcher Ahmadreza Djalali – Vida Mehrannia – as well as the sister of French Benjamin Brière, the wife of Austrian Kamran Ghaderi and the daughter of German Jamshid Sharmahd.
“They all wonder if EU officials have forgotten them and how much longer they will have to suffer through this press,” the four relatives write.
Swedish citizen Ahmadreza Djalali has been in prison for six years and has been sentenced to death on espionage charges.
Brière has been imprisoned for two years, while Ghaderi has been deprived of his liberty for almost seven years. Sharmahd was jailed about two years ago and faces the death penalty.
