Jenny, 43, was on her way to Bromölla with her family when she ended up in the middle of a traffic drama.
On the E22, they were joined by a large group of motorcyclists who drove carelessly and stepped on the rear wheels.
– My daughter was terrified and wondered if we were going to die now, she says.
43-year-old Jenny, her husband and their nine-year-old daughter were on their way to Bromölla from Lund when there was chaos on the road.
– When we got out on road E22, my husband said “jeez, what motorcycles are coming”, says Jenny.
The bikers weren’t just anyone. It turned out to be hundreds of people from the group Loud Bastards who carried out one of their “rideouts”.
– They came down on the rear wheels, threw themselves between the cars on the highway and some did tricks. They became a loud roar around our car, she says.
“Wondered if we were going to die”
Jenny and her husband chose to slow down because of the traffic danger and in the back seat sat a frightened daughter.
– She was terrified and wondered if we were going to die now. She wondered what would happen if they ran into us. She curled up in the back seat and the tears flowed, says Jenny and continues:
– It was very traumatic, she was very upset.
Despite the careless driving, the motorcyclists avoided traffic accidents.
– If one of them had rolled over, it would have been a mass crash like no other, says Jenny.
Finally, the gang turned off the road and the family could breathe a sigh of relief.
– When we had calmed down, we realized that they were really good. You could have paid to see them drive at Malmö Raceway, but not on a motorway. It is completely life-threatening, she says.
“Videos can help us”
The police in Lund are aware of the Loud Bastards gang, but say that it has resulted in few cases.
– They have been in the Lund area. We have an incident report from August 19 where five motorcyclists drove carelessly and on the rear wheels, but I can’t say it’s a recurring thing, says Joakim Nyberg, municipal police in Lund municipality.
What can the police do to deal with this?
– We have to deal with the traffic violations it can cause. Driving without license plates, interfering with other traffic and even negligence in traffic. But at this point, we’ve only had this incident report.
The Loud Bastards themselves have posted on social media both pictures and videos from their so-called “rideouts”, when you take to the roads in large groups to drive.
– Maybe it can help us. We have to take a closer look at it and see if there is something to write reports about, says Joakim Nyberg.
