Now Frida Karlsson sends a new fit after quitting the national skiing team.
– I have been clear about what I want, she says in an interview with DN.
Currently loading Frida Karlsson for another winter and ski season. It will be the Swede’s fifth season as a senior in cross-country skiing and she aims for it to be the best so far.
Frida’s decision
But the 23-year-old has alternated pre-season training with harsh headlines and a lot of strong reactions. Because last spring, Karlsson and his teammate chose Maja Dahlqvist to drop out of the Swedish cross-country team.
Frida Karlsson justified the controversial decision by saying that she gets to spend more time at home with her own team together with a specially designed arrangement that suits her best. But in connection with the departure, the skiing star also directed criticism at the national team’s lack of flexibility in connection with training camps and arrangements.
“Dislike most”
A few months later, the reactions have subsided and Karlsson thinks that the whole situation was far too exaggerated. She again directs criticism but this time the pass is sent to the media who wanted to “create a war that didn’t exist”.
– I dislike that the most because there are no “hard feelings” from either us or them. I have been clear about what I want to develop in the team and I have not seen any changes in it and felt that it has taken energy. That’s why I start from myself now and do what I believe in, she says in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.
She sees no rift at all between her and the other teammates in the national skiing team.
– It’s not a big deal. They had a camp earlier this summer and then they were in Sollefteå where I was also. They are my friends and we went on the roller skating rink together. There is no battle axe, says Frida in the interview.
Formerly also has names like Charlotte Kalla and Lynn Svahn chose to leave the national ski team and in Norway have superstars such as Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, Therese Johaug, Peter Northug and Marit Björgen did the same to prioritize own plans. Nor is Frida Karlsson closing the door to the national ski team forever.
– I feel a responsibility that I want to influence the team so that it will be so good that I want to be there and that the best thing is for everyone to be there, she explains to the daily newspaper.
