Two Russian embassy officials have been killed in an explosion outside the Russian embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
– An act of terrorism, says Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, an “unidentified militant” allegedly set off a bomb near an entrance to the embassy. Afghans are also said to have been killed or injured in the attack.
Local police state that it is a lone perpetrator. The killing has not yet been confirmed by the Afghan Taliban government.
Russia is one of the few countries that, after the Taliban took power, still has an embassy in Kabul.
