Apex Legends has set a new player count record on Steam. Over half a million Steam users checked into the shooter in August 2022 to play Season 14 and its content.
How to do Apex Legends on Steam: On August 9th, Apex Legends experienced a sharp increase in active player count, culminating in a new record of 510,286 concurrent players (via Steamcharts), a whopping 100,000 more people than the previous record.
The spike continues the upward trend that Apex Legends has been enjoying on Steam for many months. Since 2020, the average number of active players per month has steadily increased, showing healthy growth of the shooter on Steam.
Player counts: CoD Warzone is a phenomenon – Apex Legends was more phenomenal
Apex Legends started at just under 75,000 in November 2020, hit 230,000 in August and currently sits in the top 3 most played games on Steam, just below CS:GO and Dota 2. Although the initial spike has leveled off, many have stayed with Apex.
There was also a strong rash in the positive reviews, which brought Apex Legends to over 500,000 reviews with a rating of “very positive”. 85% of them gave a thumbs up.

“I don’t like Battle Royale, but Apex is very neat”
This is Season 14: The surge in player numbers and positive reviews overlaps with the start of Apex Legends Season 14 “Hunted”. Although the community had previously called for a boycott of the game, the number of players exploded.
The new season brought numerous adjustments, a season pass and the new legend Vantage as a playable character. The level cap of 500 has also been increased and players have been able to level up their accounts.
After the rash of new reviews for the release of the season, Apex Legends steadily received between about 350 and 500 positive reviews per day with about 70 to 150 negative reviews.
In the positive reviews, the players wrote (along with a lot of nonsense) that the shooter managed to convince them, although they actually don’t like Battle Royale.
In the negative reviews (which also contain a lot of nonsense) numerous bugs and crashes were criticized and a comparison was made with the better optimized mobile version.
So while the negative reviews chalked up Apex Legends’ problems, they often had some good words for the game.
