What is your political experience?
This would be my first political appointment however I have extensive experience in volunteer board work, which requires many of the same leadership qualities and skillsets to be successful at governance. I’m proud of my connectedness with our community. I am the incoming president of the Kiwanis Club of Chatham Kent, current board member of PAWR, former board chair of St. Andrew’s Residence and Chatham Kent Hospice, former board member of the YMCA, former president of both the Chatham Downtown Rotary and the Sunrise Rotary clubs.
Why are you running?
As a proud parent of two children who were successful in the public school system, I want to advocate for all students and families within Ward 6 to ensure they have equal opportunities to reach their full potential and ensure everyone’s voice is heard. I will advocate that the curriculum offered will provide students with a fulfilling academic experience that will foster success for every student.
What skills do you possess that will be an asset to Chatham-Kent?
As a volunteer for the past 15 years, I’ve met many local citizens and have become aware of the needs and priorities in our community. I will ensure a focus on student achievement, and will advocate on behalf of students and their families in Ward 6. I will place students at the center of all decision making and will commit to engaging with constituents on the board’s strategic plan and vision for a strong public education system.
