In people’s minds, the expression ” energetic transition refers to the shift from an energy system based almost exclusively on energy sources.fossil fuels to a system centered on renewable energies.
The reality is a bit more complex. Indeed, the energy mix – in other words, the priority we give to this or that energy source – is constantly changing. This mix must adapt to the constraints of the place and the time while satisfying the needs of consumers in a logic of independence. Thus, in the United States, for example, the energy transition is guided by the exploitation of unconventional resources such as shale gas. In Germany, we are betting on stopping nuclear center and on the development of renewable energies.
The Energy Transition for Green Growth Act
In France, the focus is on energy savings and efficiency linked to the development of alternative sources. A law called Energy Transition for Green Growth was enacted in August 2015. It provides a framework for the new energy model in France. Reduction of the energy bill and the fight against emissions of greenhouse gas are highlighted.
The challenges of the energy transition
It is obvious that the change in the energy paradigm cannot take place without the contribution of technological innovations (efficiency of photovoltaic panels, storage of electricity, management of decentralized production, etc.). It is also certain that, whatever the decisions taken at the political level, the energy transition will not take place without changes in uses (carpooling, drop in heating temperaturesetc.).
