Technology is not just for humans! Invoxia proves it with its Smart Dog Collar, a connected collar for dogs that measures the animal’s heart rate and breathing while serving as a GPS to locate it.
Dogs and cats are often more than just pets. They are full – somewhat furry – members of the household, and therefore we care about their well-being. And that, companies have understood it! A real Tech market is being set up around them – surveillance camera, kibble launcher, ball launcher… Invoxia, a company specializing in GPS, has decided to push the concept of geolocation collars a little further. The French firm unveiled at CES 2022 the Smart Dog Collar, a collar equipped with numerous sensors capable of detecting the dog’s heart and respiratory rates, while providing other multiple functions. An original concept, which makes the collar a kind of connected watch for dogs.
Invoxia Smart Dog Collar: track the health and location of the dog
The health of our animal is essential but we are not always able to detect in time the signals that indicate a problem. Whether it’s through ignorance or simply because our hairballs can’t verbalize their ailments, we sometimes realize it too late. Based on this observation, Invoxia has developed the Smart Dog Collar, a collar equipped with numerous sensors that will allow the activity and movements of dogs to be monitored, as well as their heart and respiratory rates. With “state-of-the-art components” coupled with artificial intelligence, the Smart Dog Collar can carry out its measurements regardless of the dog’s coat, without squeezing its neck too much – the device is intended to be non-intrusive. On the other hand, it is not designed for small dogs – you must weigh at least 8 kg to carry it.
The Smart Dog Collar incorporates the functions that made the success of the Invoxia Pet Tracker. Equipped with a GPS, it tracks the movements of the animal in real time and records its activities, such as its sleep, its meals, its moments of play and its barking. What to see if he has appetite problems, a lack of activity – which can be worrying in a young dog – or even certain behavioral problems – such as separation anxiety. The great novelty is that the collar is able to detect heart and respiratory rhythms continuously using sensors, so as to provide the user with all the necessary health data via the application. The algorithm is responsible for analyzing them and warning the master in the event of an anomaly. The information can even be shared with the veterinarian via the Invoxia app.
Designed in collaboration with canine health experts, the Smart Dog Collar is washable and durable. In addition to GPS, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE-M – a low-consumption 4G connection, which allows good autonomy. It will be available in autumn 2022, in several colors, for a price of 99 €. It will also be necessary – and this is where it gets a bit stuck – to rely on a monthly subscription for the application which should be around 10 and 12 € – without it, the Smart Dog Collar is just a simple collar a little massive. However, the gadget remains interesting for dogs with a health risk – congenital disease, old age – but also for laboratories or health insurance companies.
