About thirty of Kommunal’s members who work in elderly care in Örebro appeared on Stortorget when the list with 621 signatures was handed over to Marie Brorson (S), municipal councilor with responsibility for social welfare.
– I am here to try to influence our work environment. With schedules and that we should be able to have a little more influence, says assistant nurse Anna-Karin Thunqvist.
“Running faster and faster”
She works at the Adolfsbergshemmet in Örebro and is worried that the municipality wants to introduce a new schedule. For her, it would mean, among other things, shared trips and more work at overtime, when there will be two staff who will look after up to ten care recipients.
– It’s tough. We run faster and faster. The residents are doing well, but it doesn’t feel sustainable in the long run, says Anna-Karin.
Will have dialogue
At the demonstration in the square, Brorson promised to look into the issue, contact the administration and accept an invitation to dialogue with the workers.
– They wanted to invite to talks and of course I want to be involved, says Marie Brorson.
