Residents have a chance to safely dispose of personal documents and at the same time support a local charity.
Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers is holding a shredding event on Sept.10 from 9 am to noon at the former Brantford tourism center in the Lynden Park Mall parking lot.
The shredding is being handled by Norfolk Shedding.
A banker’s box worth of documents will cost $10 to shred or the contents of five boxes can be shredded for $35.
All proceeds will go to Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers.
A community-based program, Crime Stoppers is a charitable organization that helps fight crime by maintaining and publicizing a tips line and guaranteeing the anonymity of tipsters.
Since it began locally in 1984, the Crime Stoppers program has helped recover more than $13.5 million in stolen property and helped sixteen more than $21.7million in illegal drugs.
Tips to Crime Stoppers have led to more than 3,000 arrests, resulting in 4,684 cases cleared and just over $468,000 paid out in rewards.
