Four people are charged after the accident when a six-year-old boy drowned at a school in Falsterbo in Vellinge municipality.

There are three pedagogues at the school and the school’s principal who are charged with causing the death of another.

– My assessment is that they have failed in their work environment responsibility. They have not done a risk assessment. It has caused this boy’s death, says prosecutor Klas Norelius to Sydsvenskan.

The fatal accident occurred in August 2020. The boy drowned in a pool during a physical education lesson with 40 children and three adults present. Several of the children did not know how to swim.

The prosecutor also demands that Vellinge municipality must pay three million kroner in corporate fines.

The municipality has tightened its bathing routines after the accident.
