According to JO’s investigation, the child was placed in a HVB home with the support of the Act on the care of young people, LVU, in June 2020.
The placement would be temporary, pending a placement in LSS accommodation. Only in November did the child get such a place, but it took until February 2021 before schooling resumed.
“Without e.g. summer vacation, so it took about five months before [barnet] got a schooling despite that [barnet]as far as has emerged, was compulsory school,” writes the investigator.
Criticizes the municipality
In his criticism, JO points out that it is the social welfare board’s responsibility to work to ensure that children who are cared for according to LVU get a schooling. According to JO, the board has been far too passive.
After the incident, the Social Committee in Karlskrona has announced that it intends to review its routines and guidelines.
