“I seriously thought I died in real life”

A bug in Destiny 2 caused the boss Golgoroth to yell so loudly that he threw some players frightened. On reddit, the community described their reaction to the roar boss.

Destiny 2 players encountered a rather loud boss in the Kingsfall raid due to a bug. In the fight against the ogre Golgoroth, an enormously loud roar seems to be triggered when the player dies.

Some were quite startled by the roar and the sudden high volume. Overall, however, the Destiny 2 community took it with humor. Bungie is already aware of the ogre roar problem. Until the bug is fixed, it is advised to turn down the volume when fighting Golgoroth.

Golgoroth defeated not only the players but also their ears

What is the community saying on reddit? On reddit, the players share their experiences with the boss Golgoroth and described their reactions to his roar (via reddit):

  • ManuelIgnacioM: “LMFAO I thought you just muted the rest of the video because all I could hear was a very loud scream. But then I noticed that my volume was almost at the minimum. Would have been damn fun to experience that”
  • lucky_yaeger: “I seriously thought I died in real life… (volume was set too low, it maxed itself out lmao)”
  • Herobine0: “I quickly threw away my headphones. Twice!”
  • Although some players were shocked and called the bug a jump scare, most took it with humor. Many were reminded of a similar, earlier Destiny bug: “1k Voices” (in German: one thousand voices), in which a loud bug also scared the players.

The users also joked on Twitter and said that this was part of the game and that the developers should leave it in (via Twitter).

How does Bungie react to the bug? Bungie Help, the official Destiny Service Updates Twitter page, meanwhile wrote: “We are aware of an issue where Golgoroth sometimes emits an extremely loud roar in the Kingfall raid.” to reduce the audio output when fighting Golgoroth until a fix can be implemented”.

So Bungie seems to be already working on solving the problem and it’s a matter of time how long Golgoroth keeps his loud roar.

There was also a big screamer in Borderlands 3, which has since been calmed down by a hotfix.
