Ana de Armas (James Bond 007 – No Time To Die) will soon be starring in the long-awaited Netflix drama Blonde. The Marilyn Monroe biopic received a very rare NC-17 rating in the US (no one under the age of 18 is allowed to see the film in cinemas) due to “sexual content”. The leading actress but cannot explain this assessment itself.

Speaking to L’Officiel, she said:
I didn’t understand why this happened. I can name you many films and series that are much more explicit and sexual in content than Blonde. But it’s important to show the moments in Marilyn’s life that determined her fate in the end. Everyone [im Cast] knew, that we had to shoot unpleasant scenes.
It is not known exactly what content the age rating refers to. Blond is an adaptation of the book by Joyce Carol Oates that chronicles the tragic life of the American icon. Among other things, a brutal rape is described.
