MISS SAINT-MARTIN SAINT-BARTHELEMY. After a year without a candidate, Miss Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy is back in the Miss France competition. Who is Ines Tessier?
[Mis à jour le 30 août 2022 à 15h44] It had been two years since there had been a Miss Saint-Martin Saint-Barthélemy in the Miss France contest. The return of the two Caribbean islands is now official, since Inès Tessier has been chosen to represent them during the national election 2023, which will be held next December in Châteauroux. The 19-year-old was elected on July 29.
In her presentation video, Miss Saint-Martin Saint Barthélemy 2022 revealed that she was passionate about the arts. Inès Tessier is currently studying cinema in Canada, at the University of Montreal. The student describes herself as a “sporty, creative and sunny” person. The candidate for Miss France 2023 also revealed that ecology was at the heart of her concerns, as were women’s rights and the defense of her two islands, “both in terms of the cultural and social relationship and the economy of the islands and their development”. Miss Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy is a beauty contest which aims to elect a candidate for the Miss France contest each year. Several young women apply in the hope of becoming the ambassador of the two islands. - Naima Dessout : August 19, 2020, Naïma Dessout was elected Miss Saint-Martin Saint Barthélemy. Aged 18 when she was crowned, Naïma Dessout studied in the United States and intended to work in the field of paramedics. However, she was excluded from the Miss France 2021 contest. The regional committee denounces on its Facebook page “an anonymous denunciation by sending non-compliant photos of her directly to Miss France Official”, most likely photos revealing a some nudity. There were no candidates in the election either. Miss France 2022.
- Layla Berry : in 2019, Miss Saint-Martin Saint-Barthélémy was Layla Berry. At the age of 20, she was one of the 15 finalists for Miss France 2020, finishing in 11th place in the ranking. Her election was memorable, as she became the first participant from Saint-Barthélémy to obtain the scarf from both islands. Since the start of the competition seven years ago, only young women from Saint-Martin had obtained their sesame for the Miss France competition.
