Frida Karlsson is not only an ace in cross-country skiing.
During the summer, there will also be a lot of golf.
– I am in demand at competitions, she tells DN.
Frida Karlsson comes from a season she would rather forget. She went into her first Olympics with huge expectations, but it was a complete fiasco, with places far behind in the results lists, and tears after finishing.
Great summer interest
After the season, Karlsson – just like national team stars Linn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist – chose to drop out of the national team’s training group for a venture of his own. She says she is in good shape for the coming season, and during the summer she has trained a lot with the German national team, as her personal trainer Per Nilsson is the women’s manager for the German national team.
But that’s not all Frida Karlsson has up her sleeve during the summer. During the camp in Torsby, where she was at the same time as the Swedish and German national teams were there, Karlsson brought a different type of sports equipment to entertain herself between sessions.
– I have the golf clubs with me. We found some football to laugh with. Both Maja and I are restless souls who need different brain stimulation, she tells DN.
“It’s moldy”
Frida Karlsson’s interest in golf stretches back a few years, and she has a handicap just under 30. But it could be lower…
– I guess I have 28-29 something. They say I’m a mold handicapper. I don’t ‘regulate’ the rounds that often, she says.
But despite her handicap, there is great interest in getting Frida involved in various competitions. At least if she is to be believed herself.
– But I am in demand when there are competitions. Because then I have a high handicap and I hit pretty far. But it can be long and straight, or long to tjotahejti.
