It is not often that the goalkeeper ends up on the score sheet.
But sometimes it happens – and then usually in style.
This Umeå FC goalkeeper really proves it.
Strange situations sometimes take place on a football pitch. Everything from an unexpected and somewhat diffuse goal to a dribbling or sliding tackle that really doesn’t go according to plan.
Suddenly abandons own goal
Sometimes it also happens that the goalkeeper ends up on the score sheet. The most common situation is then that the goalkeeper has followed up into the opponents’ penalty area during a corner in the last minute, in desperate search of an equaliser.
But sometimes the goalkeeper can all of a sudden show an enormously good game sense and get an absolutely brilliant idea. And that’s exactly what this goalkeeper from Umeå FC’s U17 gets in last weekend’s meeting against the Brommapojkarna.
While all the players are standing and drinking water at the substitutes’ bench, the referee blows the start of the game. The goalkeeper perceives that no one heard the signal, takes the ball and accelerates towards the goal.
Pushes the ball there
He rushes with the ball from his own penalty area and the opponents do not perceive the action until it is far too late. When he gets to the center circle, the opponents speed up, but the goalkeeper has then picked up speed quickly enough that no one can keep up and he can easily place the ball in the goal.
