While buses are sometimes used in the event of a train failure, that was not an option today, according to the NS. “A train is a very efficient means of transport, you can put a lot of travelers in it. And I don’t think we have enough buses in the Netherlands to replace today’s train traffic,” explains an NS spokesperson. “Suppose we had promised that and then had not delivered it, then the travelers would have only been disappointed.
