Kristersson met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during a visit to Stockholm on Monday.
Before that, the government announced a new support package for Ukraine of one billion kroner, half of which is military support.
Ukraine is asking for heavy artillery in the form of the well-known Swedish Archer system and robot 70. What exactly the government’s package contains is not known, but M wants to meet Ukraine.
– There are two things that they themselves point out and that most assessors think are completely realistic and that they would have extremely great use in Ukraine, says Ulf Kristersson.
— A new government will make that decision, there is no reason to hesitate. I do not understand why the government is delaying an announcement.
Sweden has 48 Archer plays, but the Moderate leader cannot answer how many can be spared.
— You have to have that dialogue with the Armed Forces before each delivery, exactly which things and in exactly what time you can be responsible for the delivery.
Kristersson also opens the door for Sweden to start manufacturing weapons to export to Ukraine.
— Since this could turn out to be a much more protracted war than we had initially hoped for, that possibility should also be opened up, I think. Therefore, the ISP (Inspection for Strategic Products) should receive clear signals from the government that this is in the interest of Swedish security policy.
