One of the most famous representatives of the French Nouvelle Vague often finds himself a contender for the list of the best directors of all time. His films like Jules and Jim or They kissed him and they hit him are loved by critics and viewers alike counted among the greatest masterpieces of the 20th century. Tarantino sees it differently. Here’s how Indiewire quotes him from an issue of Sight & Sound:

The thrillers [des französischen Regisseurs] Claude Chabrol are much better than the lousy films by Alfred Hitchcock or François Truffaut. They’re just awful. […] [Truffaut] is a passionate, clumsy amateur.
