The dispute has been going on for a long time and regulators in the US have threatened to kick 200 Chinese companies out of the New York Stock Exchange. Beijing has refused to allow foreign officials to inspect Chinese companies on the grounds that they want to protect state secrets.
The agreement is now supposed to make it possible for US company audits to be carried out on site in Hong Kong or Mainland China.
