TURKSTAT announced 941 percent of households in Turkey have internet

Internet is indispensable for most of us now. TurkStat, on the other hand, shared the results of the Household Information Technologies (IT) Usage Survey for 2022. According to the results of the household information technologies usage survey, it was observed that 94.1 percent of the households had access to the internet from home in 2022. This rate was 92 percent last year. According to the Statistical Regional Units Classification (NUTS) 1st level of households with internet access, the regions with the highest are TR1 Istanbul (Istanbul) with 98.7 percent, TR5 West Anatolia (Ankara, Konya, Karaman) with 98.3 percent, respectively. and TR3 Aegean (İzmir, Aydın, Denizli, Muğla, Manisa, Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Uşak) with 94.4 percent.

THE PROPORTION OF INTERNET USERS aged 16-74 is 85 percent

While the rate of internet usage was 82.6 percent in 2021 for individuals in the 16-74 age group, it became 85 percent in 2022. It was observed that the rate of internet usage for men was 89.1 percent in 2022, and 80.9 percent for women. It was observed that 82.7 percent of individuals used the internet regularly in the first 3 months of 2022. The rate of men using the internet regularly was 86.9 percent, and 78.6 percent of women.

In the last 12 months, the rate of individuals using official websites and applications for private purposes and benefiting from public services over the internet was 68.7 percent. Among the purposes of using e-government services, accessing personal information kept by official authorities or public services took the first place with 64.4 percent. This was followed by making an appointment or making reservations from public institutions or public services with 48.5 percent and obtaining information from public institutions’ websites with 44.1 percent.

INTERNET ORDERS RATE 46.2 PERCENT

In the last 12 months, the rate of purchasing or ordering goods or services (e-commerce) for private use over the Internet was 44.3 percent in 2021, while it was 46.2 percent in 2022. According to gender, the rate of purchasing or ordering goods or services over the internet was 49.7 percent for men and 42.7 percent for women. This rate was 48.3 percent and 40.3 percent, respectively, in the previous year. When this ratio is analyzed according to the last time they bought or ordered goods or services, it was seen that 33.6 percent of individuals purchased or ordered goods or services in the last 3 months (the first 3 months of 2022). This rate was 32.4 percent in the last 3 months of last year (first 3 months of 2021).

MOST CLOTHING PURCHASED ON THE INTERNET

In the first 3 months of 2022, the most purchased goods by individuals who bought or ordered goods or services online were clothing, shoes and accessories with 71.3 percent. This was followed by deliveries from restaurants, fast food chains and catering companies with 50.2 percent, food products with 41.9 percent, cleaning products, personal care materials with 28.7 percent and cosmetics, beauty and health products with 27.4 percent. . When the types of goods purchased on the internet are analyzed by gender, men’s clothing, shoes and accessories with 64.7 percent, deliveries from restaurants, fast food chains and catering companies with 51.1 percent and food products with 40.9 percent; On the other hand, it was seen that women buy clothing, shoes and accessories with 78.4 percent, deliveries from restaurants, fast food chains and catering companies with 49.2 percent, and food products with 43 percent.

While the rate of individuals who performed learning activities for educational, vocational or private purposes over the internet in the last 3 months was 17.1% in 2021, it became 15.9% in 2022. This rate was 5.6 percent for men and 16.3 percent for women in 2022.

82 PERCENT USES WHATSAPP

The most used social media and messaging applications by individuals were WhatsApp with 82%, YouTube with 67.2 percent and Instagram with 57.6 percent. When the most used social media and messaging applications are analyzed by gender, the most used social media and messaging applications are WhatsApp with 85.9 percent for men, YouTube with 70.8 percent and Facebook with 61.5 percent, WhatsApp with 78.1 percent for women, 63 percent.
