DOCTOLIB. New earthquake for the Doctolib platform. An investigation was opened for “illegal practice of medicine” after the identification of two false doctors in Hérault. Doctolib is called upon to be “more serious” about checking registrations.
After the controversy over naturopathy, Doctolib is shaken again. It is the platform’s controls on the practitioners and doctors registered in its directory who are singled out and for good reason: two fake doctors present on the application for making medical appointments have been pinned in the Hérault. The two men pretended to be psychiatrists and were discovered by a patient who filed a complaint with the Montpellier prosecutor’s office in June 2022 according to the investigation by French Radio. A complaint to which was added that of the Departmental Council of the Order of Physicians of the Hérault which denounces the absence of controls of Doctolib. Justice has decided to open an investigation against the two doctors for “illegal practice of medicine”.
Warned of the presence of impostors on its platform on June 21 by the abused patient, Doctolib explained the procedure for registering doctors on the platform: doctors must first provide an identity document “then a period of 15 days is granted to health professionals in order to receive the supporting documents as part of a verification of the right to practice. A device that allows doctors to give consultations before the verification of their diplomas. Near France infothe online appointment booking platform acknowledged the flaws in its system and said: “Since we became aware of this case, we have been working to strengthen our control procedures so that no practitioner can use our services until their identity and right to practice have been verified”.
