A couple of weeks ago, Petter Northug revealed that he is making a comeback.
It has caused many to react, and not least his old teammates in the Norwegian national team.
– It is against all odds, says Emil Iversen.
It has been a little over four years since Petter Northug ended his career and said goodbye. Afterwards, he called himself an exerciser, but a few weeks ago, the Norwegian said that he had regained his competitive nerves.
The shock of the star
After showing good results during the summer season on roller skis, Petter Northug has decided to make a comeback, and this winter will, among other things, go Ski Classics.
The icon’s decision has caused many to react. Not least in his home country of Norway, and Northug’s former teammate, Emil Iversen, is, to say the least, shocked by the 36-year-old’s decision.
– It is against all odds that we are sitting here talking about it, that he should now have such a fight after being a rock star at Playa del Inglés (the beach area of Gran Canaria), or where he had his trips after the Tour de Ski, says Iversen to VG.
“Creates a buzz”
Emil Iversen, on the other hand, thinks it’s fun that Petter Northug is returning to cross-country skiing.
– But it’s great fun that Petter is still around, gagging a bit and cutting down on us. It is good. He is a big profile and someone who creates a “buzz”, says Iversen.
He continues:
– I hope he will make it through the fall and not become a “good weather runner” who only trains when it’s summer and sunny.
