A few days ago, Pokémon GO hosted a Community Day (C-Day) with Galar Zigzachs, which drew a lot of criticism. We at MeinMMO therefore wanted to know from you how you imagine this event to be in the future and are showing you the results here.
Which event is it about? On August 13, 2022, Pokémon GO hosted its monthly Community Day, centered around Galar Zigzachs. In addition, Niantic gave you a variety of bonuses, such as improved stardust and increased XP, as well as special research.
But while many were happy about the dark and normal Pokémon, there was also plenty of criticism of the event. The reason for this was the event period planned by Niantic. We have summarized below why this led to a good discussion and how you imagine the event to be in the future.
Here you can find the dates for the Community Days in September, October and November.
That’s why the event times of the C-Days cause a lot of discussion
That’s the problem: As you know by now, this event period also lasted 3 hours and therefore ran from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. Thus, the Community Day was held exactly over lunchtime. But it was precisely this that led to problems with the prevailing weather conditions in some regions.
Many players complained about the high temperatures at that time. In some areas, people were even warned not to go outside because the sun was too intense. But playing Pokémon GO from home is hardly possible after the smoke has worsened.
For this reason, the trainers have been demanding that the event times be adjusted for some time.
Were times always like this? No, the event times were not always like this. It was not until spring 2022 that Niantic reduced the times from the previous 6 hours to 3 hours, which led to a lot of headwind from the community after the announcement.
However, this has not changed and since then the trainers have had to play in the intended 3-hour window in order to be able to use all the Community Day content. And the level 4 raids that followed the C-Day, which Niantic recently introduced, obviously couldn’t change this opinion.
Poll shows majority wants times to change
After the current event times of the Community Days were repeatedly criticized, we wanted to know from you in a survey how you imagine these events to be in the future. So whether you are happy with the current 3 hours or would change something about the times.
This is how you made your decision: To date, August 24, 2022, as of 2:00 p.m., a total of 2,416 people have taken part in our survey. And the results are pretty clear. So we asked you: “What should Community Day look like for you in the future?” and received the following answers from you:
What do the results show? Your votes show that a full 94%, or 2,274 people, would like the times of Community Day to change. Just 6% are satisfied with the current times.
However, opinions differ widely regarding the length of the event. So the majority would be happy about a return to a 6-hour event. But a full event day is also conceivable for a third of you.
That’s why Niantic should adjust the times of the Community Days
The fact that opinions differ widely with regard to the event times is not only evident in the survey itself, but also in your comments under our post on MeinMMO and in our Pokémon GO Facebook group.
No fixed time: There, some find a time-independent solution in particular to be a good idea. With this, the players should be able to activate an event period of 3 hours on C-Day with the help of a smoke or ticket, depending on how it suits them in time.
Even if this option was only popular with 17%, i.e. 414 trainers, in our survey, this idea keeps popping up in your suggestions. You can find the following comments:
1. Is it really a DAY instead of “Happy Hour”?
2. In this time window everyone should be able to participate for 1-3 hours if they really want to
3. Whether you play for just one hour or three or the whole day is up to you.”
Extension of periods: But in general, many trainers in the comments are of the opinion that the 3 hours are not enough or that the event should at least be postponed to a different time. For some, family and weekend work play a decisive role:
“You act like there’s no shadow”
But not all coaches have a problem with the change, because the 3 hours are enough for them to play. However, not all of them can understand the excitement surrounding the reduced event times and lunchtime play. You can also find the following comments on MeinMMO and in our Facebook group:
It remains to be seen whether the times will change in the future. If there is more information about this, you can find out from us on MeinMMO.
What do you think of the 3-hour Community Day event window? Would you like a change? And what does this look like? Or do you have enough time and you can’t understand the criticism of other players at all? Do let us know in the comments.
The next big event is already in the starting blocks and, in contrast to Community Day, runs for a full 8 hours. We have summarized all content for the final event of GO Fest 2022 for you.
