Everything about the start and why the re release is worthwhile

The decades-long wait for Avatar 2: The Way of Water will be briefly interrupted in September. 20th Century Studios and director James Cameron bring the predecessor Avatar back to the cinemas. So the most successful film of all time just got a little bit more successful.

The re-release takes place 13 years after the original start, which was followed by the re-release of the blockbuster with 9 minutes of additional scenes. Also this time James Cameron garnishes his prank of genius with one update, but of a technical nature. You can find out more about this below.

When is Avatar 1 back in theaters?

The new version of Avatar: Pandora opens in theaters on September 22, 2022. Germany is a day ahead of the USA. The blockbuster will be in selected cinemas to run. It is best to look around in your respective city early on and secure your tickets, because demand could be high.

Why is the new Avatar version worth going to the cinema?

The short answer: The new version of Avatar will even more visually stunning than the 13 years ago. Aufbruch nach Pandora inspired above all as an immersive experience, the audience was drawn into a luminous, strange world according to all the rules of CGI art. James Cameron set new standards, also for the use of 3D.

And Pandora is still the gold standard for this type of blockbuster. You will hardly find more detailed, more precise and more deeply animated worlds. Nevertheless, the world of cinema has moved on in recent years and James Cameron is taking advantage of this.

you become one souped-up remastered version see from avatar. The blockbuster was divided into so-called 4K High Dynamic Range (or 4K HDR) converted. This allows for a deeper image representation with smoother and more dynamic movements at the same time, as you have experienced in Gemini Man or the Hobbit films. Action scenes in particular could benefit from this.

This is how the specialist website 4KFilme writes about the re-release:

[…] the remaster should be shown with TrueCut Motion HFR. This is a technique that allows filmmakers to adjust the frame rate scene by scene. The frame rate could be increased to 48 fps in action-packed passages or when panning the camera, while quieter scenes are displayed in 24 fps so as not to jeopardize the cinema look.

If possible, watch Avatar in an IMAX – and of course in 3D. It is not yet certain whether IMAX cinemas in Germany will include the film in their programmes. But the probability is high, because the re-release of Avatar takes place at a time when new visually stunning blockbusters are largely missing in the cinemas.

IMAX theaters will also take the opportunity to promote Avatar 2. This starts on December 14, 2022 in the cinemas.
