According to NS, the current timetable is still based on the expected “substantial” passenger growth from 2019. “The world looks really different now,” says acting president of the NS, Bert Groenewegen. Groenewegen sees that the current service provision cannot be fully realized due to the shortage of colleagues. This leads to train cancellations, disappointment among travelers and excessive work pressure. According to him, adjustments to the timetable are therefore necessary to “give colleagues more space to be able to do their work in a normal way again”.
