“Can’t be real”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as the saying goes.
But that may not always be true.
Jesper Parnevik’s son, for example, got the chance to be a caddy during a competition last week – and made the golf world drool afterwards.
– I have no idea what I’m doing, he says.

It is not uncommon for children to develop an interest in the sport that one’s parent or parents spend a lot of time on. Jesper Parnevik is one of Sweden’s absolute greatest golfers of all time, and it would not have been particularly surprising if one of his children had taken a liking to the sport.

Son’s wonderful interview

But that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case. Parnevik still plays on and off on the PGA Tour Champions, the senior equivalent of the PGA Tour. During a competition on the tour last week, Jesper asked his son Phoenix if he wanted to be a caddy, and he volunteered.

However, it wasn’t as if the son, born in 2001, bothered with the assignment.

– He called me a few days ago and asked if I wanted to be a caddy. I had nothing to do, and just thought: “Sure, why not?”. I have never tried it before, and now I have realized that it is a bit more work than I thought, he says in an interview after the end of the competition.

“Sounds completely made up”

Yes, Phoenix is not interested in golf at all, and the interview with him together with father Jesper has spread on social media. The reason is that Phoenix is completely open about how little he actually knows about golf, and when father Jesper pulls out some standard terms, such as “duff” and “dogleg”, the son has no chance.

– I have no idea what I’m doing. I have no idea what a “dogleg” is. Your golf terms sound completely made up, like they’re not real. I don’t know what you’re talking about, he says, laughing.

Phoenix says the hardest thing about being a caddy was the rules. Jesper believes that on several occasions he had to remind his son not to step in his fellow players’ putting lines on the green.

It was fun, but it was nerve-racking and stressful to stay away from everything and everyone. I have never played 18 holes before, or even walked 18 holes, says Phoenix Parnevik.
