On August 24th, the August update starts in Lost Ark, which, among other things, brings the legendary pets into play. We at MeinMMO have summarized all the important information about the big update for you.
When is the update coming? The August update will be rolled out to the Lost Ark live servers on August 24th. This has now been confirmed via the official Twitter account. Thus, the MMORPG continues to adhere to the new Wednesday as a patch day.
Servers will go offline on the 24th for the weekly reset at the usual 9am time. Then they stay offline for 4 hours before you can head back to Arkesia and play the new update.
You can find the exact patch notes directly on playlostark.com. Nevertheless, we have summarized and explained the major cornerstones of the update for you.
What’s in the update? In August you can expect a comparatively small update compared to the previous monthly updates. Nevertheless, you can look forward to the following things:
The Arcanist came into play with the last monthly update:
Your own ranch and biscuit factory
What is the Pet Ranch? With the ranch for your companions, your own island expands by another aspect. There you can not only let your little animals play and relax with each other, but also unlock tangible and game-relevant bonuses.
This is mainly because you can raise your pets to the legendary level with the ranch. This gives them a larger inventory and more buffs that strengthen your character. But until then, your animal must first earn experience, which also happens in the ranch.
To unlock them, you need to get your Stronghold to level 15 and then accept the quest “Yay, a Companion Ranch” given to you by your House Manager. After that you can start.
How does the ranch work? Your pet ranch is basically split into two different aspects that serve different purposes. On the one hand you have a leisure facility for your little animals. There they play and rest to boost their morale.
On the other hand there is the biscuit factory. Your companions work there and produce delicious jelly biscuits, which consumes this morale again. If a companion’s morale is exhausted, he can no longer produce jelly biscuits and must go back to the playground.
These cookies then serve as a new currency in Lost Ark, with which you can get new and exclusive items and even boost your pets.
How can you improve pets? The longer your pets work in the cookie workshop, the more skills they will learn. They level themselves up from rare to epic to legendary. Also, your companions can make more cookies the higher their proficiency level.
If a pet has reached maximum competence, you can upgrade it to a legendary companion. To do this, you need to feed it Pet Growth Tokens, which you can get for Jelly Cookies from the appropriate vendor.
Legendary pets improve your character
What do legendary pets bring? The new legendary pets bring you all kinds of benefits that are useful on your journeys through Arkesia. For one, you unlock the ability to purchase the third inventory page of your pet inventory once the pet reaches legendary level.
Second, it can gain another combat buff on top of the two an epic pet can already use. However, this third ability works a little differently and isn’t permanently active like the existing two.
Leveling up your companion to “legendary” will automatically unlock one of the five skills. If you want to change them, it will cost you 20 crystals from the companion trainer. These abilities each have 3 different effects, one of which you activate randomly in battle.
These are the skills:
Change appearance: Furthermore, legendary pets can change their appearance. You can change your pet’s visual appearance to any other pet you have unlocked. However, this requires you to purchase a Companion Customization Potion, which you can get from the vendor for Jelly Cookies.
However, once you have fed your pet this potion, you can change its appearance as often as you like without incurring any additional costs. In line with this, completely new companions are coming to Arkesia in August.
These are cute Shiba Inus who go into summer with a scarf. You can buy the cute dogs in the shop from August 24th and thus also serve as skin givers for your legendary companions.
Maharaka Festival: Flowering Mokokos and Event Raids
What is this event? The Maharaka Festival: Blooming Mokokos will start together with the update on August 24th and is intended to expand the current summer festival. So it’s just a summery event where you can compete in hilarious mini-games and earn rewards.
It will just be about new ways to earn the leaves of the Maharaka tree and use them to buy rewards like mounts and skins. We don’t know yet whether the purchasable items will change or which new mini-games await you.
Old event is coming back: Also, the Event Guardian Raids are coming back to Arkesia. In this mode you have to defeat 3 guardians at once, alone or in a group. In return, however, you will receive special buffs and an event currency.
The Event Guardian Raids have been around for a while and have enjoyed great popularity. So many players should be looking forward to it coming back.
New skins to match the pet ranch and for the future
What new skins are there? What the new skins are called exactly is currently hardly known. Only the Achatemiau sweater is mentioned by name in the preview and equips you with little wings and a tail. However, these are attached to a cozy sweater and are not necessarily summery.
Also attached to the current blog post is an image showing various cat ears and more summery skins that we can expect in the next update. We’ll show you both below. Lost Ark also shared a short video of the new outfits on Twitter.
Wingsuit Skins: Also coming on August 24th is a new line of skins that have nothing to do with pets or summer. These are the futuristic wingsuit skins. These are available for your armor as well as for your weapons.
Even your mount can mutate into a fancy motorcycle that could also come straight out of cyberpunk. If you liked the continent of Arthetine, you should like the new skins too. In addition to the wingsuit and pet ranch skins, there is also a new costume for weapons, which is more classic.
There are also new skins for your fortress. There you can now build a futuristic race track through which you can then race with your motorcycles. But don’t expect a racing game, they’re just skins.
The wingsuit skins let it rip
Bug fixes and new restrictions
What is fixed? In addition to the new features, there are also some new bug fixes that are coming to the MMORPG in the update. So you can finally use all power passes again. The free ones had already been reactivated last week, and the paid ones will follow this week.
However, they also bring some limitations. If the highest Gearscore on your account is increased by a power pass, these restrictions apply, presumably to protect against bots.
So if your highest character is on Gearscore 460 and you buy and use a Punika Power Pass that pushes you to 1,302, you have to live with the following restrictions for 72 hours:
You can chat again: Also fixed a number of bugs that prevented you from participating in certain chats. The Unas gold from the daily quests is now available as real currency again and no longer as coins.
These coins had to be clicked one at a time, and some players complained that they had to click over 700 times. That too is now a thing of the past.
