Brynäs has recruited the golden hero from 2012, Johan Larsson, to Gävle.
Now team captain Anton Rödin tells us that he had a hand in the game.
– Would have been stupid otherwise, he says.
Johan Larsson broke through in Brynäs in the 2010/11 season but was drafted by the NHL club Minnesota already the summer before. He remained in Brynäs for another two years and participated in winning gold in 2012.
That’s how he influenced Larsson
But then it was off to North America to try his luck in the NHL. Johan Larsson remained there until a couple of weeks ago when he was ready for a return to the Gävle club Brynäs.
One who previously tested life as a hockey professional in North America is Anton Rödin. It didn’t go as well as for Larsson and he returned to Sweden, after a turn in Switzerland as well, for the 2019/20 season and has been team captain in Brynäs since then.
Now Rödin tells us that he had a hand in the game when Johan Larsson signed for Brynäs earlier this summer.
“Would have been stupid otherwise”
– We’ve known each other since before and I’ve been lying to him all summer that he should come home, says Anton Rödin to Gefle Dagblad.
He continues:
– You would have been stupid not to. There have been some text attacks on sms.
Anton Rödin is looking forward to sharing the dressing room with Johan Larsson in the coming competition year.
– We are of course super happy to have gotten him into the team, a guy who played ten years in the NHL, and could have continued there, if he didn’t want to come home instead. I guess we’ve had some contact over the years, not super much but still enough that I was on him with quite a few messages.
