Since the beginning of November, the application of the streaming giant has indeed welcomed a new category of content: video games. Initially, only Android devices could benefit from it – and again, gradually, because the option was not deployed at the same time on all mobiles. But since November 9, iPhone or iPad users can also benefit. Important detail: this service is offered at no additional cost. All subscribers, regardless of the plan subscribed, can access it without paying anything more. And, of course, like all content in the Netflix catalog, these games are completely ad-free. This should make it easier to swallow the pill of the price increase that occurred by surprise at the start of the school year …

Please note: these are not streaming games (cloud gaming), but titles that must be downloaded to the device from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, via the links provided in the Netflix app. In fact, Netflix has not set up an independent alternative store and relies on those of Google and Apple to manage downloads. A method that has the advantage of not destabilizing less experienced users. In addition, if some games can work offline – and therefore without any connection – others will require access to the Internet, Wi-Fi or via mobile data, 4G or 5G. By including video games in its offering, Netflix is ​​playing the diversity card. Games will be available from all profiles associated with an account. Be careful, however, the titles offered by Netflix will remain inaccessible to the Youth profile. After updating, a Games icon appears at the bottom of the screen with the smartphone app or from the Categories menu in the Netflix app for tablets.
