Wiebes narrowly beat the Italian Elisa Balsamo. After the cyclists had covered 128.8 kilometers, a photo finish had to be used. Thus, the European title remains in the province. Last year Ellen van Dijk from Woerden won the European Championship. She crossed the finish line in 42nd place at this European Championship. Floortje Mackaij, also from Woerden, placed 41st.
