Fiesta in Utrecht watch the team presentation of the Vuelta

Utrecht – The time has finally come: the Tour of Spain is in Utrecht. Tonight the 23 participating cycling teams will be presented on Vredenburgplein and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow there will be two stages in our city and province. A livestream of the team presentation can be found in this blog and here. You will also follow the Vuelta closely with us in the coming days via live blogs, a theme page and numerous broadcasts on Radio M Utrecht, RTV Utrecht and Ustad.

17.05 Vredenburg is full for team presentation

3.40 pm The team presentation and the stages: where and what time?

The riders cycle through Hoog Catharijne to Vredenburgplein. There will be a presentation program from 6.10 pm that can also be seen live on large screens along the canal. The riders also take a boat trip over the canal towards the Bemuurde Weerd. There are numerous performances before and after this event.

The full programme, including pre and after shows, is between 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM. From 4 pm you can also visit the La Vuelta Festival at the Janskerkhof.

Friday evening team time trial

The start and finish are at the Jaarbeurs. The riders will start training on the track at 4 p.m. The Spanish team Burgos BH starts at 6.30 pm. The teams start every four minutes. The finish of the last, 23rd team is expected around 8.22 pm. That is the Dutch Jumbo-Visma with three-time Vuelta winner and defending champion Primoz Roglic in its ranks.

The start of the second stage is in the center of Den Bosch. The first part of the ride is ridden in the setting of the Zuiderwaterlinie, the Dutch military defense line of the 16th and 17th centuries. After crossing the major rivers, the peloton heads at full speed towards the province of Utrecht.

The riders are expected in Rhenen by 3.30 pm. Via Rhenen the riders go to the Amerongse Berg, where the first mountain points can be earned. That will be around 4 pm. Then it continues over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug towards Amersfoort. At Soesterberg Air Base there is an intermediate sprint, in which the fast men compete for the first points. After a loop through the city of Utrecht, the sprint is drawn towards the finish line at the Utrecht Science Park.

3.05 pm Road closures through Vuelta

3 p.m. Hotels in the province of Utrecht busy receiving Vuelta riders

The pro peloton stays in various hotels in the area and so the parking lots are full of trucks, support cars and even mobile kitchens. Team DSM is staying at the Fletcher Hotel along the A2 near Nieuwegein.

2 p.m. Spotting professional cyclists

Professional cyclists are already being spotted in various places in the city and region of Utrecht.
