The suspected vehicular homicide took place at the end of July. A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured when they were hit by a car on a street in the district of Lundby, on Hisingen.
The police quickly came to the theory that the two people may have been hit on purpose. Soon, two brothers were arrested as suspects of murder and attempted murder. They are the sons of the woman who was killed.
Two people in their 60s were arrested for aggravated protection of a criminal. One of them is also suspected of unlawful threats. Both are related to the brothers. A few days after the collision, the four suspects were detained for two weeks. All four deny the allegations.
Lawyer understanding
It is now clear that the four will remain in custody while the investigation continues. Two have themselves admitted continued detention. For the other two, the district court decided on extended detention on Thursday.
– We understand that this investigation will take time. There is a lot that needs to be investigated, says lawyer Sina Safashad, who defends the younger brother.
Chamber prosecutor Hediye Kurt believes that the background to the murder is that the woman started a relationship, which upset many in the family.
– My assessment is that there is an honorable motive, says Hediye Kurt after the arrests.
Many interrogations
Technical investigations and analyzes of material on social media have taken the investigation forward, according to the prosecutor.
– Many interrogations have also been held, with outsiders but also with relatives, says Hediye Kurt.
However, she does not want to talk about any details of the investigation. The prosecutor believes that her further work will take at least two months.
