– Theoretically, I could invoice you from my company for half a million, that is absolutely the easiest. Then there will be nothing that can be traced. And then the Liberals invoice me, says Liberals’ consultant Svend Dahl in one of Kalla fakta’s secret recordings.
The law on transparency in party financing came into force in 2018 to prevent corruption. This means, among other things, that each party must openly report the name of each person who gives a gift of more than SEK 24,150. Cold facts can reveal how politicians from several parties in conversations with donors are prepared to circumvent the law’s requirements for openness and transparency.
“Could have major consequences”
The Liberals’ consultant Svend Dahl is not the only one from the party to propose different ways to round the law. On behalf of Kalla fakta, the businessman is in contact with Lisa Flinth (L), who is responsible for the party’s strategic management support. She suggests various methods to get around the requirement for publicity, while at the same time she wants to make sure that the agreement cannot be traced to the party.
– That could have very big consequences. We don’t really have any margins here in terms of credibility, but if there was an article like this in the midst of a burning election campaign and we were to miss the Riksdag barrier, I would never forgive myself, says Lisa Flinth (L) in one of the secret recordings.
One of the suggestions is to use someone close to the donor as the bull, because the party can then report that person’s name instead of the donor’s, which can thus be anonymous.
– Is there someone close to you who would be less uncomfortable with being responsible for the transaction? asks Lisa Flinth (L) in Kalla fakta’s hidden recording where she continues to tell the anonymous donor about how they have done in the past with gifts where someone did not want to be public.
