During the past weekend, the man allegedly subjected a woman with whom he has a relationship to aggravated rape and attempted murder. The incident must have occurred in Bräcke municipality during the night of Sunday.
The man was arrested and detained over the weekend and the initial criminal classification was assault. The classification has now been changed.
– The woman’s story and other findings and observations mean that I make the assessment that she was subjected to life-threatening violence, says prosecutor Kajsa Starlander to SVT Jämtland.
Regarding the rape, the prosecutor believes that it should be considered serious because she was subjected to both threats and violence.
The arrested man is not a native of the county.
Charges must be brought by August 31 at the latest.
