Extend the special supervision of young people, give the police more power to use bugging and introduce a new criminal classification: child abuse. These are some legal policy proposals from the Liberals.

On Wednesday morning, the Liberals presented several proposals in the area of legal policy. The party wants to see better and more effective coercive measures to reduce crime; among other things, they want to expand the special youth surveillance, so that the police will be able to intercept and control young people’s digital communications to a greater extent.

– It is so that they can be controlled, but also so that they are protected against criminal leaders, says party leader Johan Pehrson.

L also wants the police to be able to use bugging to a greater extent. They also want topping up to always be carried out by criminal suspects if there is prison in the punishment scale.

They also want to introduce a new criminal classification: child abuse. This is because young children can often find it difficult to express what they have been exposed to.

– When it comes to assault, there is common legislation regardless of whether you are 3 or 33 years old, says Juno Blom, the Liberals’ legal policy spokesperson.

– We want to clearly highlight that violence against children is a particular priority, says Blom.

The Liberals also want a special gun penalty law that targets weapons with illegal purposes. This is to differentiate between the weapons that have a legal area of use and those that are used against people.

– The problem with today’s legislation is that when we tighten the gun laws in various ways, it also affects the legal gun owners, says Paulina Brandberg, legal policy expert at L.
