In the Marvel Cinematic Universe it is It is no longer so easy to keep track of over 20 films and series. That’s how it sometimes seems to be for those responsible behind the camera when we look back at some scenes in the MCU.
One extremely important Thor mission for example, according to Digital Spy, Marvel’s The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron has been dropped entirely.

Thor’s mission suddenly played no role in the third solo film
In the second Avengers blockbuster, there is a brief scene where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) runs into a cave alongside Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård), takes a bath and has a vision. In it he sees, among other things, all the Infinity Stones. At the same time, this decisive advance in knowledge provides him with the most important mission – which, however, no longer plays any role after that.
In Thor 3: Day of Decision, which was directed by Taika Waititi and showed the Marvel hero as comedic as ever, this vision becomes just mentioned again in passing. Thor says here that he had given up the search for the Infinity Stones after a short time without success.
But that makes little sense since he saw the stones clearly in his vision. Waititi wanted to put his own stamp on the Thor solo films anyway. Hence the short vision in Marvel’s The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron probably deliberately ignored, so that the director could proceed more independently. Or it was just forgotten.
