The record for the longest carpet in the world was broken at the festival held every year in Huamantla, Mexico, in the state of Tlaxcala. The 3,932-meter long carpet, made by pouring colored sawdust on the streets of the city, won the title of the longest carpet in the world and entered the Guinness Book of Records.
It was reported that the design of the carpet, which was started a year ago and consists of sawdust and flowers in 19 different colors, has a life span of only 2 days. In the city of Huamantla, the tradition of decorating the city streets with colorful carpets has been going on for 70 years, at the festivities held annually on August 14-15 in honor of the saint of Cachita.
