The transition to more environmentally friendly flights is in full swing. In a research group that includes MDU researcher Konstantinos Kyprianidis, technical solutions that can be used in electric and electric hybrid aircraft are being refined. They start from one aircraft type for 19 passengerswhich can take off and land at airports the size of Västerås airport.
– I really hope that people will not feel ashamed of flying in the future. The flight will be an environmentally friendly and convenient option, says Konstantinos Kyprianidis.
But infrastructure investments are required for the transition to become a reality, he believes. Among other things, fast charging, energy storage and a stable energy supply are needed at airports where electric aircraft are to be charged.
